This Month's Marketing Round-Up  July 2018

Digital Marketing Round -Up

With so much happening in the world of digital marketing, it's really hard to keep up with whats new and trending. I've decided to trial a monthly blog post-round-up of all the key things happening in Marketing and how it may affect you as a business owner, Let me know what you think of this approach and whether you find it useful?

Instagram

Instagram story

This month, Instagram users can now add up to 15 seconds of music to their stories. The great news is there is a whole range of musical genres for you to pick from. If you currently don't use Instagram stories this new feature will not mean much to you, but for the avid Instagram story users, this is probably one of the best things they've heard this year!!! LOL  Click here for the full story

Its also good news for Android Instagram users, because Instagram launched "Instagram Lite" a new Android app, which is a lightweight version of the Instagram app specifically for users with low data storage, so it uses up less data and takes up less space on your Android device. I'm quite shocked by this, but Instagram stories are more popular than Snapchat!  On Thursday Instagram reported more than 400 million people are using stories every day, and Snapchat reported that last quarter 191 million people used Snapchat every day. What does this mean for your business? If you're currently not using either of these features, its something you should consider for your business because it's a great way to create brand awareness.  Click here for the full story

Facebook

Facebook

Facebook is patenting a system that can use your mobile’s microphone to remotely monitor your TV habits, which will allow advertisers to build TV user profiles. Although this an advertisers dream, this technology sounds quite evasive to me and proves that’s it’s more important than ever for people to understand what information companies are collecting from them. WHat does this mean for your business? Any improvements to customer profiling, means improve accuracy for reaching your target audience. Click here for the full story

It’s bad news for Mark Zuckerberg,  A number of Facebook investors are trying to oust him due to the various scandals the company has faced recently from Russian electoral controversy to the Cambridge Analytica data breach. Click here for the full story

Social Media Influencers keep winning! Snapchat launched a new e-commerce influencer tools with Kylie Jenner, which will now allow Influencers to sell their products and merchandise to their followers. Followers can buy their favorite influencers merchandise without leaving the platform and they can now save all their credit card information on Snap. What could this mean for your business. If you sell merchandise or products targeting a younger demographic perhaps you should consider using Snapchat to sell your products.  Click here for the full story
