Black History Month: Meet 9 UK Black Female Marketers, Bloggers, PR Specialists Slaying The Industry

UK Black Female Marketers 2018

Its Black History month over here in the UK!

Black History Month is a wonderful opportunity to remember and give thanks to our ancestors who’ve paved the way, and made significant contributions to black history.
So, I thought It would be a great time to shine the light on some of the black women from the UK
who've came to slay and make power moves within the Marketing industry!

Like many other industries in the UK, the Advertising, Marketing, Media and PR industry is predominantly made up of white middle-class men. You only have to look at the 2018 Powerlist 100 - The Marketing Industry’s Brightest Stars to see we have some way to go to improve diversity within the sector, with only one black female (Bosana Saint John) from the USA making the list.

However, I don't want this to put off your black women considering a career in Marketing because there are so many amazing things black women are achieving in the; marketing, advertising, and media industry. So the list I’ve created is in no particular order, it simply represents trailblazers wearing their crowns and hustling hard! If there is anyone you feel I’ve missed off, please email me at nicola@madebydm.co.uk and I’ll include them on the list.

Conclusion

It's crazy that in 2018, UK black women excelling in their field are not getting the recognition they truly deserve. But it reinforces how important it is for bloggers like me to continue showcasing the trailblazers that the mainstream media chooses not to.

It’s vital that young black women interested in pursuing careers in any industry are not only aware of the significant contributions black women are making in their field but inspired to hustle hard, wear their crown and pursue their own dreams.
