2 Amazing Black Friday Campaigns
Black Friday is a super exciting and stressful time for marketers.
Its a time of year that all businesses can get involved with to help drive
sales and in 2017, UK consumers spent 10 billion over the Black friday period.
Just in case you've been living under a rock for the last few
months, Black Friday is the name given to the
shopping day after Thanksgiving. It was originally called Black Friday because so many people went out to shop
that it caused traffic accidents and sometimes even violence. Although this was
originally an American event, it has become a bit of global phenomena.
According to PWC, in
2017 more than 3/4 of retailers got involved in Black Friday and 1 in 6
consumers will be spending over this period, so I wanted to share two my
favourite 2018 Black Friday Marketing campaigns.
Pretty
Little Thing
Clothing giant, Pretty Little Thing campaigns
are always fun and engaging. Their Black Friday campaign contains strong call
to actions that they promote across social media, the press and social media
influencers.
How this approach can
work for you: Do you have any
products or services you could discount? What key influential people could you
approach to talk about your brand online? Consider approaching the local press
to share your latest deals? Have you set up a social media account for your
business yet?

Patagonia
Patagonia is
a designer of outdoor clothing and gear for the silent sports: climbing,
surfing, skiing and snowboarding, fly fishing, and trail running. Although they
do not participate in Black Friday and encourage consumers not to buy new
clothes during this time of year, the company plan to donate 100% of its Black
Friday sales to help the environment.
How this approach can work for you: If you want to make a stand and there is a cause you truly believe in don't be afraid to talk about it and encourage your customers to support it.
Conclusion
Black Friday can be a great way to drive awareness of your brand
and generate sales. The two examples above demonstrate some of the ways you can
use this powerful promotional tool. I'd
love to know what Black friday campaigns you've come across.
