Hey, hope you've all had a great week!

With over 330 million monthly active users on Twitter and 6000 tweets sent every second, I literally couldn’t imagine my life without Twitter. Although I use Twitter to network and promote my blog I've been using Twitter Chats over the last 2-3 years because I’ve managed to meet some great people through this form of Twitter communications. Do you currently use Twitter Chats to generate new leads or raise your brand awareness? If your answer is yes, do you think they help benefit your business?

I thought I’d focus today’s blog post on the benefits of Twitter Chats for business owners.

What are Twitter Chats?

Social Media Examiner defines A Twitter Chat as “a public Twitter conversation around one unique hashtag. This hashtag allows you to follow the discussion and participate in it. Twitter chats are usually recurring and on specific topics to regularly connect people with these interests”.

6 Reasons Why I use Twitter Chats?

I’ve been taking part in different Twitter Chats for the last few years because I’ve found its a great way to connect with my peers and gain insight about different marketing subjects. But there are some other reasons why I like Twitter chats:
  1. They are great for interacting with others in your industry. I personally love connecting with other marketing professionals all over the world and learning from my peers
  2. Local geographic insight – If you have a service or product targeting people in a particular geographic location, there are twitter chats targeting specific locations,
  3. Raise awareness of your brand
  4. Twitter Chats are a good way to generate new leads
  5. Get to understand your prospects/customers pain points
  6. Learn new things from others in the industry.

How do Twitter Chats Work?

Twitter chats tend to have a moderator who uses a specific hashtag to talk about relevant specific conversations industry. Twitter chats are open to the public and usually happen on a weekly basis. Why not look out for chats that are specific to your industry or where you are geographically based.

How to find a Twitter Chat?

You can either go onto Twitter and search for a topic that interests you. For example I’m keen on anything to do with marketing or finding out what’s happening in my local community. Alternatively check out this website that lists almost 1000 different Twitter Chats.
