4 reasons why you should set up a Facebook Business page

So, whats the big deal about creating a Facebook Business page?

Are you a business owner who has a personal profile? If yes, have you created a Facebook Business page yet? If not, what are you waiting for?? With over 2 billion monthly users and 60 million active business Pages what have you got to loose?

What is a Facebook business page?

A Facebook business page is a free public profile you can create for your local business, brand or product. Similar to your personal Facebook account, you can use the Page to promote your business or products by posting status updates, links, event announcements, comments or photos and videos.

4 reasons why you should set up a Facebook Business page

1. It wont cost you a thing! A Facebook business page helps to keep your marketing costs down. The only thing a Facebook Business page will cost you is £0 and your time to create it and manage it.

2. Get to understand what your target audience like. Your Facebook business page allows you to gain an understanding of what your audience likes. This is achieved by measuring engagement. By understanding the content your audience like you can help to build brand loyalty. An example of brand who creates high quality engaging content is Airbnb. The post below is a valentines promotion which has generated 625 likes, 253 comments and 50 shares.

Is there an exclusive Facebook promotion you can run for your customers or clients?

3. Generate new business. With over 2 billion monthly Facebook users, this is a great way to build a new customer base and grow your email list. A great example of this is Ubereats post below. To generate new customers, they have promoted vegan menus during Veganuary and their free delivery options.

4. Drive Traffic to your website or shop The Business page can link through to your website and help to drive website traffic and visits to your web page. A great example of this is the B&Q post below. This post is promoting a 20% off promotion and the content encourages people to either go in store or shop online.
Is this is something you could recreate for your own business?

Key features of a Facebook Business Page?

Personal Profile Vs Business Page

The first thing to remember is, you need to have a personal Facebook profile to create a business page. Once you have a personal profile you can create a Business Page from there.

Facebook Business Page templates

Facebook offers several free templates to present your business page. To check out which template you currently have visit the menu and click on Settings and select "templates". I always recommend using the Business or Services template.

Facebook Profile image & Profile cover

Within the first seven seconds of meeting people, you will have a solid impression of who they are. The same counts for your Facebook business page. You have seconds to impress, so make sure you profile picture and cover demonstrates what you are trying to represent. So think about the use of colours and images to reflect what messages you want to convey.

Canva is a great tool for designing FREE bespoke Facebook profile covers. They have loads of templates to customise to suit your needs. Unsplash is a great free tool for using royalty FREE high quality images.

Facebook tabs

Tabs are the menu items you see on the left hand side of the page. Key tabs to set up are;

  • About Us,
  • Services (menu of the services you offer)
  • Reviews
  • Offers (can post discount and deals from your page)
  • Events (if you host them)
  • Shop (if people can buy merchandise).
You can go into your Settings and select the tabs you want people to see and prioritise the order. Please make sure your Reviews tab is active and enabled to reinforce social proof.

Username and About Section

In my view the About Us section is one of the most important areas on your Facebook page. It allows you to add all your business information e.g. website details, address e.t.c and share what you do. So,creating a killer "about us" section could be the difference between a customer choosing your businesses over your competitors.

I also love the fact, Facebook allows you to create your own username for your page. Usernames are linked to your customer url address, making it easier for people to search for your business. Small tip ... Make your username simple and recognisable.

Call to action

Your call to action button is at the top of the page. This is how you want people to engage with your brand on Facebook, e.g. Call us, visit my website or email me. You may want to select a call to action and test to see what works best for your brand.
