Why Enterprise Nation's Social Media Workshop Gets A Big Thumbs Up From Me

If you've just set up a business and looking to build some useful connections and learn about the latest marketing trends, attending workshops is a great way to achieve this. Thats one of the reasons why I decided to attend the Enterprise Nation Social Media workshop last month.

This was my first  Enterprise Nation event, so wasn't sure what to expect. I discovered the event on Eventbrite and because of the itinerary, great location and free entry, I thought I'd give it a try.

On arrival,we were greeted with wine and nibbles, which was a lovely surprise. There were around 10 other entrepreneurs at the event. Everybody was really friendly and O2 were the perfect hosts.

About the Enterprise Nation Social Media workshop

The session was focused around tricks and tips your business should be using on Facebook and Linkedin to grow brand awareness and generate new clients.

The workshop was hosted in the Business Hub at the 02 Shop on Birmingham New Street (which is literally a 5 minute walk from Birmingham New Street Station). The session was delivered by David Glenwright, who happens to be one of only eight official Facebook trainers across the UK.

7 Key takeaways from the Enterprise Nation Social Media Workshop Event

There were so many golden nuggets of information David provided during the session, but for me the top 7 things I took away were the following:

1. With over 2.38 billion people actively using Facebook every month, this is a platform you NEED to be using to promote your business and engage with existing customers and prospects.

2. When developing your social media strategy , its essential you use social media to build and nurture relationships with your target audience and not just see it as a platform to sell your services/ products.

3. People forget how powerful WhatsAPP is for your business. So for example the Broadcast facility on Whats app is a great way to message a large group of people with personal message. If you've never used this Broadcasts list before here check out this useful guide on how to use them

4. Facebook Groups are great way to offer a premium service, for customers who are prepared to pay a little bit extra for more exclusive content. If this is something that interests you, check out this intro to paid subscription groups on Facebook video by Lucy Griffiths.

5. Jasper's Market place is the official Facebook Demo page, so if you want to see best practice, check out this page.

6. Facebook Mobile Studio - Is a hub i'd never heard of which provides you with a variety of different IOS and android apps to enhance your business's social media profile such as photo cutting and video editing.

Ripl - App that turns photos into videos

7. She Means Business - Is a learning hub for female entrepreneurs to ensure they are using Facebook to the best of their advantage for their business. It also provides a great opportunity to network with other female business owners. I'd never heard of this Facebook training website before and I'm really looking forward to trying it.

Overall this was great use of my time. It was a brilliant opportunity to keep up to date with new Facebook trends and meet other Entrepreneurs from the West Midlands. I'd also like to thank Claire Finnegan and the O2 Guru team for putting on a great event.
