Every business needs a killer list of email contacts that can be turned into customers. Why do I say that? Apparently, 99% of consumers check their email every day and 73% of millennials prefer communications from businesses to come via email.

There is a specific science to building an email list, so if you're wondering why nobody is opting into your email newsletter or your website is not converting visitors to customers, then I hope you find this blogpost helpful.

Although, email marketing may not be a new or an innovative tool to target customers, its a great to ensure you are making contact with your clients and prospects.

5 Killer Ways To Build An Epic Email List:

1. Give something away for free

Create a kick ass lead magnet or a free gift to give people a reason to provide their email address in exchange for your good content. A lead magnet is an incentive that marketers offer to potential buyers in exchange for their email address or other contact information. Popular lead magnets are things such as; free courses, cheat sheets, e-guides, tickets for an event or discounts of your services or products. However, you need to make sure your lead magnet is linked to your audience.

2. Build content to promote you lead magnets
Create behind the scenes, blogposts, checklists or videos around the lead magnet to drive people to the landing page and create a call to action. When creating your lead magnet, consider what problems is your content solving? Is the content your'e creating easily digestable? Does your content demonstrate your expertise?

Use tools such as Canva to design your lead magnet. If you don't have the time to create your own lead magnet.. don't worry, you can use websites such as IDPLR.com to buy content and then re-sell or share as a downloadable piece of content on your website. This website has  thousands of different topics, so its worth taking a look.

3. Create a landing page
You absolutely need a landing page that converts traffic. According to WordStream study it found that the top 10% of landing pages converted 3x-5x higher than average converting pages. So creating a dedicated page to promote your lead magnet with a strong call to action and a simple data capture form that captures; customers name and email addresses will encourage people to register their details for your lead magnet content. 4. Exit Intent Pop-Up
A successful exit pop-up can help convert website users to opt into your email list, just before they leave your website. Wiki describes an Exit intent pop up as:
A technique used in online shops and websites to retain visitors that are going to leave the site. With an exit intent popup, a visitor's mouse movements are tracked, and when the cursor moves outside the upper page boundary, a popup window is shown.
When are applying to your website, this is a trigger to try and capture people who are about to leave your landing page to try and get your prospects to leave their details. There are popular apps such as Pop up Ally , Sumo Me to help you create customised pop-ups on your website.
